Wish you a very Happy Onam

Onam festival which is being celebrated in Kerala and Malayalees world over is on the day when Surya(Sun) is in Chingam (Leo) and Chandra(Moon) in star Thiruvonam (centre star of Capricornus). Story of Mahabali and Vamana (an incarnation of Lord Vishnu) is associated with the festival. Started as a harvest festival in ancient times (when clocks & Watches are not in existence) has now transformed in to a commercial festival. It is told that all major consumer durable companies sell 30% of their annual targets, during the fortnight near Onam festival. As the position of the Sun and the Moon is such that during "Onam" moon light is always available and Onanilavu( Onam moon light)is also associated with it.
