Full moons in the garden & the Nifty

The above flower is commonly known as "Nishagandhi" in India or ‘Queen of the Night’, the Japanese people call it Gekka Bijin, which means ‘Beautiful Woman Under the Moon’. Wikipedia description says Epiphyllum oxypetalum is a species of cactus and one of the most cultivated species in the genus. It is not a variety of nightblooming Cereus and shouldn't be confused with species of Selenicereus. Nishagandhi blooms more than once in a year, but on certain days(most of the buds blooms on day one and the remaining next day) only with a gap of more than one month. Similar to moon it takes around a fortnight to bloom after the buds appeard on plant's stems/leaves. And again similar to moon it blooms in the night only (after 9.00 p.m) and unblooms before the dawn. It's a wonderful flower with a pleasant aroma and you can watch its beauty in many Yutube videos.

Now to the point, how it catches our attention. Nandi observed that when ever the flower bloomed in his terrace garden, that day Nifty took a downward move. Last such dates were 27-Aug-13, 26-Jun-13 and 29-May-13 when Nifty lost 189 points, 20 points and 7 points respectively. On a search on the subject it was found that the flower bloomed on 5th August 2011 at Bangalore and on that day Nifty lost 120 points. On 20th September 2013 eight buds appeared in Nandi's terrace garden and it's growing steadily. The day when it will bloom is not known at present, may be on 1st or 2nd October. Waiting to see how it will be this time. From now on please observe the blooms in your garden and give your feed back. Like full moons it may have a success rate of 8 out of 10.
